Albert Einstein said,
“The only source of knowledge is experience,” and knowledge through
experience is exactly what Greg and Carla Lord offer as realtors. The reason
“The Lords Rein in Horse Country,” as their motto states, is because they
bring to their profession a depth of knowledge of Marion County’s horse
properties and of all sectors of the equine industry that is hard to equal.
Greg
is a lifelong resident of Florida, and he has lived
in Marion County since 1985. He grew up with show horses and, as an adult,
moved on to the hobby of roping. He has been showing competitively for 42
years.
Through his years of
work in the equine field prior to becoming a realtor, Greg became familiar
with many of the 50 breeds of horses that grace the pastures of Marion
County as well as all of the farm areas, and many of the over 1200 farms. He
also learned about the vastly varying wants and needs of horse owners.
As a former
thoroughbred trainer, Greg knows the race industry from the inside. He
understands the serious breeder whose main concerns are the rich, limestone
soil of our area that contributes to strong, healthy foals and a well laid
out barn and paddock area that is conducive to quality mare and foal care.
He understands that a serious show person needs a level area for training as
well as a good barn. And he knows and respects that there are some horse
people who are at the stage where they simply want a great view of their
pastures from the house so they can watch their horses enjoying life grazing
on lush grass on the rolling hills and amongst the majestic oaks.
As a long-time
businessman, Greg understands that success begins and ends with the
satisfaction of the client or customer. He taps into his years of experience
in the horse business and knowledge of the area to match his clients with
the perfect property that meets their needs.
Carla says, “real estate is my life,” and she came to
the real estate profession through osmosis—well, maybe not literally but
almost, as she was born into a family of realtors. Prior to marrying Greg
and moving to “The Horse Capital of the World,” Carla sold residential
properties, historic homes, and worked in property management. She feels
like she found her “home” in the real estate profession when she
started selling farms in and around Marion County because it combines her
love of the profession and her experience as a horsewoman.
Carla started showing
hunter-jumpers while she was living in Las Vegas and continued to do so when
she moved to in San Diego. When she moved back home to Orlando, it was
through her horses that she met Greg. Since marrying and moving to Ocala,
Carla has been showing Quarter Horses and is currently successfully showing
a double-registered Palomino.
Carla’s love for the
Ocala area is evident as she talks about Greg and her raising their
respective children here as well as their horses and dogs. She says they’ve
been blessed to have many in their international network of clients become
friends and to have watched their children become adults and their horses
become champions. It gives them great satisfaction to know that they’ve
helped these friends find their piece of paradise by understanding their
needs and helping them find the perfect property.
Carla says that their
service extends beyond finding the right property. “We make it our priority
to connect buyers with every person or business that they will need to make
Ocala home—from pasture maintenance experts, to hair stylists, to resources
for finding physicians. We provide our customers with our Ocala Connection
Welcome Package that includes everything we can think of to make their move
to Ocala easier.”
Carla and Greg both
feel a need and a responsibility to give back to the community. They have
done so by serving on the boards of both horse and real estate
industry-related organizations as well as philanthropic organizations, and
they have chaired several successful charitable fundraisers. Greg worked his
way up the leadership ladder in the Ocala-Marion County Association of
Realtors, and he is the 2007 President. He also serves on the Marion County
Zoning Board, a position that adds another page to his portfolio of
experience needed to be the realtor of choice. He was the 2005-2006 Unit
Chair for the Marion County American Cancer Society and the 2006 Co-Chair
with Carla for the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barron’s Ball.
Their participation in
these organizations not only has been beneficial to the community and
personally rewarding, but it also has enhanced their network of
acquaintances and their knowledge of Ocala. This, in turn, helps them better
serve their clients.
John Locke, the
Seventeenth Century English philosopher, said, “No man’s knowledge can go
beyond his experience.” With 30 years of combined experience and service in
the real estate profession, it would be hard to find agents more
knowledgeable than Greg and Carla to help you find your personal piece of
paradise in Marion County, Florida!
